To provide the resources, advocacy, education, and support to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders and traumatic brain injuries. To foster individual dignity, self-reliance, integrity, understanding, and hope for veterans with mental health challenges. The model for the program is from a biblical perspective Isaiah 53:5, thereby CTC Wounded But Not Broken will be the "balm in Gilead," Jeremiah 8:22.
"But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 53:5 KJV
"Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?"
Jeremiah 8:22 KJV

There are over 2-3 million American Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan wars. At least 20% of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans’ have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and\or depression. The two primary conditions that affect many military service members during deployment to a combat theater and after active deployment are post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
TBI is caused by sudden trauma to the head and is commonly sustained by soldiers exposed to explosions. It may result in a decreased level of consciousness, amnesia, or neurological abnormalities, and is classified as mild, moderate or severe on the basis of its severity at the time of the injury. |
PTSD is defined as an anxiety disorder induced by exposure to a traumatic event such as witnessing injury or death. It is characterized by symptoms that include re-experiencing the event, hyper arousal (irritability, anger or hyper vigilance, for example) and diminished responsiveness to or avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma.
I am glad I was able to find CTCWBNB because I did not know I was able to receive compensation for my disability. I initially filed for benefits from the VA in 1999 and did not follow up with the status. CTCWBNB encouraged me to refile and I am glad I did so. I was able to get 100% disability compensations from the VA. Chris L.
I am a female veteran with dependents and had problems getting services for myself and my children. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the medications are not helping me. I spoke with someone at CTCWBNB and explained my situation. They contacted the VA and helped me link with outside sources as well. I needed help with budgeting and was able to have someone assist me with this as well. I like the fact that when I call CTCWBNB they were willing to help me at all times…. Tina C.
CTCWBNB helped me maneuver through the VA system when I was not able. I got so frustrated with speaking to people at the VA and felt like they were not listening to me. When I called the VA, they would keep me on hold and would continue to tell me to call this number and that number. When I spoke with someone at CTCWBNB, they were patient enough to get me to the right place. Thanks CTCWBNB…. Bill S.
CTCWBNB will assist veterans to maximize their fullest potential in a caring, compassionate and competent environment: to foster independence, to enable each person to be integrated into the community.
CTCWBNB will seek to increase public awareness of the needs for these veterans; to research grant information from foundations, public and private corporate charitable programs that share values and will partner with CTCWBNB to help serve these veterans; and to educate the public regarding funding needs of organizations that provide these types of services; and to solicit charitable contributions from public and private individuals and corporate organizations.
